FIFA investigates the Brazilian Federation’s contract with Ancelotti sports

30 May 2025 - 9:27 pm

The International Football Association (FIFA) asked its Brazilian counterpart to clarifications regarding the latter’s use of a broker who does not hold an agent license in the contracting process with Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti to supervise the national team, according to a document published by local media.

The Brazilian Federation stated – on Thursday – that it will deal with the situation “internally”.

On Monday, the Italian coach officially held the position of world champions coach 5 times to supervise them until the World Cup 2026.

According to a message from FIFA on May 28 and published by many Brazilian media, the International Federation asks its Brazilian counterpart to clarify the role of Diego Fernandh, “the mediator without a license” as an agent, that is, the conditions imposed by “FIFA” in football transfers in the world of football.

At the time of these negotiations, Ancelotti was still a coach of Real Madrid and has a contract with him until 2026.

FIFA considers that Diego Fernandh’s participation in the negotiations “may constitute a violation” of the regulations of football agents.

FIFA ordered the Brazilian Federation to provide any receipts for the payments provided to this mediator, and to copy any exchanged messages with him regarding negotiations.

Ancelotti responds to the fans in Brazil (French)

In his response to clarifying from the French News Agency, the Brazilian Federation said that “the conditions for negotiations include secret items, and the previous administration was set by the Federation headed by Edino Rodrigish, who was sacked on May 15 by a judicial ruling a few days after the announcement of the appointment of Ancelotti.

“The contract signed by Diego Fernandh with the Brazilian Football Association to appoint the Brazil coach is completely compatible with the Brazilian Football Association and FIFA standards.”

According to the statement, Fernandh worked as a “advisor” and did not have enough time to complete the necessary procedures to become an agent according to FIFA terms, given the limited time available to appoint the new coach who will succeed Dorieval Junior.

He continued that Diego Fernandh will not receive “the fair amount of his work as a mediator” until after obtaining his license, which was estimated by the Brazilian media at 1.2 million euros.

Ancelotti, the first foreign coach for the Brazilian national team in 6 decades, arrives in order to polish the image of “Silicao”, who has suffered a lot in recent years and is still looking for his first world title since 2002 when he was crowned for five times.

Ancelotti has a full record of titles, including winning 5 titles in the Champions League (record), but he will supervise a national team for the first time in his rich career.

After 14 rounds on the start of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Brazil is the fourth qualifying for the World Finals, 6 points behind the seventh place where its owner (currently Venezuela team) is the international attachment.

The Italian coach said Monday during his official presentation that “his only goal is to win the World Cup” next year.
