The Syrian -Jordanian Economy Forum highlights new horizons for cooperation after lifting the sanctions economy

Damascus- The activities of the Syrian Jordanian Economy Forum and Exhibition, which was hosted by the Syrian capital DamascusWith an unusual nature after lifting US and European sanctions on SyriaWhich paves the way for broader horizons for commercial and investment cooperation between the two sides.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the events witnessed a wide participation of Jordanian and Syrian businessmen and industrialists to discuss strengthening cooperation and reactivating the Jordanian -Syrian joint Business Council.
“The forum aims to find channels for permanent communication between the two brotherly countries, as it is a pivotal mechanism for reassessing and developing trade exchanges, the most important of which is the import and export file.”

In a speech to him during the opening dialogue session of the forum, Al -Ali stressed the necessity of re -evaluating partnership agreements between the two sides, after the decision to lift international sanctions on Syria, in line with economic developments, as well as intensifying cooperation to face challenges and supporting competitiveness between the products of the two countries, especially in regional markets.
In turn, the head of the Chamber of Commerce described JordanKhalil Al -Hajj Tawfiq, the visit of the Jordanian commercial delegation to Syria with “historical”, after the interruption of real communication between the private sector institutions in the two countries for nearly 14 years.
He pointed out that the delegation, which represents the commercial and service sector that is under the umbrella of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, will put all the experiences of the Jordanian private sector at the disposal of the Syrian private sector.

The exhibition, which was held at the Damaruz Hotel in Damascus, witnessed the participation of 38 Jordanian companies from various industrial, service, construction and food sectors, with the aim of “discussing the process of networking Jordanian industrialists in the Syrian market that is thirsty for products, and overcoming any obstacles or difficulties facing trade between the two countries”, according to Islam Al -Omari, general manager of “Bejad” company to organize exhibitions and conferences.

Al -Omari pointed out, in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net, that the Forum and Exhibition of the Syrian Jordanian Economy is only a first step in the context of strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that another exhibition in Damascus is scheduled to be held next month for companies linked to their fields with the path of reconstruction, and 22 Jordanian companies participate.
For his part, Abdel -Rahman Gilusi, Deputy Director General of the “Bejad” Foundation, to organize the exhibitions, pointed out that the participation of the Jordanian side comes within the framework of a comprehensive vision to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries, explaining that this participation is consistent with the official Jordanian directions that support the enabling of the Syrian economy and contribute to his long -term recovery.
Gilusi pointed out, in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net, that a group of Jordanian companies specialized in ready construction attended the activities of the forum, in a move that reflects the interest of Jordanian businessmen in active participation in reconstruction projects inside Syria, especially those that require quick solutions in implementation and construction.
He added that the forum witnessed a large presence of businessmen from various industrial and commercial sectors, as a number of memoranda of understanding were signed among the participants, under the slogan “involuntary participatory”, which reflects a clear trend towards building economic partnerships based on integration instead of crowding.

Great opportunities
Engineer Amer Al -Dhafir, a delegate of the “Al Batoon Technology” company, one of the companies participating in the exhibition, says that his participation comes in the context of a poll and investment opportunities in the Syrian construction sector, which is expected to witness a qualitative shift with the start of the reconstruction path in the country.
Regarding the most important results concluded by the forum, Al -Dhafir indicates that what it means and the Jordanian businessmen is the agreement reached by the Syrian and Jordanian sides regarding the expansion of the process of joint cooperation between the two countries, and facilitating and simplifying the procedures for Jordanian investment in Syria, whether at the level of direct investment within Syria or by importing materials from them.
He adds: “We in Jordan are always looking forward to being prosperous Syria, and today the opportunity came wider after the penalties to contribute to its prosperity.”
For his part, the representative of the Jordanian Magellan Company for Cargo Services and Customs Services, Emile Abu Saada, expressed his happiness at the return of Syria to its “natural position in the region” after the recent political and economic transformations.
Abu Saada stressed in an interview with Al -Jazeera Net that Syria represents a great investment opportunity for all Arab and international companies, considering that this is the reason for the participation of their company in this forum, which is expected to be a new beginning for economic cooperation between Jordan and Syria.

Enhancing economic relations
The forum also witnessed the announcement of a number of steps to enhance economic relations between the two countries, on top of which is the agreement to establish a joint council for Syrian and Jordanian businessmen to activate cooperation mechanisms and provide ways to stimulate and develop trade and private investment, as well as support the establishment of joint companies and projects in various sectors.
Participants in the forum stressed the importance of defining businessmen from both sides of the investment opportunities available in the other country, and working to develop trade and increase the volume of business, which contributes to creating a more open and intensive economic environment between Syria and Jordan.
It was agreed to hold a Syrian -Jordanian economic forum next month, to be held in Damascus.
While the two sides agreed to open a permanent coordination office between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in the two countries, in addition to launching “Tamma” initiatives between the chambers of commerce in the Syrian and Jordanian governorates, in order to enhance institutional communication and support local initiatives.

To address the challenges facing the various sectors, it was decided to form specialized sectoral committees, to study obstacles and develop appropriate solutions for them.
In a related context, it was agreed to hold a permanent exhibition for Syrian industries in the headquarters of the Jordanian Chambers of Commerce, to be a continuous platform for displaying Syrian products and enhancing their presence in the Jordanian market.
The attendees stressed the need to find a practical formula to facilitate the entry of Syrian merchants and industrialists to Jordan, in line with the new opening stage and enhances the exchange of experiences and opportunities.
